Learning Theories Matrix
When starting this first week’s assignments, I was nervous. I haven’t researched Behaviorism, Cognitivism, and Constructivism since undergraduate school. I graduated with my bachelor’s in December of 2013. I researched each theory using the provided links and other scholarly articles to freshen my memory. I have never studied Connectivism but it was interesting to read. While researching each theory, I realized that I have been incorporating the activities connected to the theories. I used the activities more when I was in the general education and self-contained classrooms. I am currently a resource teacher. I incorporate Behaviorism and Cognitivism more than the other theories due to me not having the same students as much. I plan on incorporating Constructivism and Collectivism by collaborating with teachers on group projects we can create where the students are sharing a document and we as the teachers can interact through the platform to critique and to be there for assistance. A challenge I faced was having some background knowledge of three of the learning theories but not enough to complete the assignment. I had to do research outside of the provided links to make sure I was fully understand them. I also faced the challenge of creating a matrix. I thought I had never heard of this before. Once I saw examples online, I stopped overthinking it and created one to the best of my knowledge. I tend to overthink most everything and worry myself. I am also learning to take things one step at a time instead of finding the final “step” and attacking it as a whole. This is my first time creating a blog post! https://www.wgu.edu/blog/five-educational-learning-theories2005.html http://thepeakperformancecenter.com/educational-learning/learning/theories/ https://opentextbc.ca/teachinginadigitalage/chapter/3-6-connectivism/ https://joepgaston.wordpress.com/2017/02/16/rethinking-assessment-through-the-theory-of-connectivism/

Nikita,
I can relate to forgetting about the Learning Theory since it’s been a few years since I had any assignments to do with it. Without realizing it, while writing the project, I was thinking about incorporating both behaviorism and cognitivism into the classroom. In the future, I hope that I would cleverly add the other two theories in the daily classroom activities.
